Greene County Household Survey
GreeneHealth contracted with a professional research firm to conduct a household survey in the fall of 2004. The purpose of the survey was to learn what Greene County people believed were the biggest health care concerns in the County. The public’s perspectives helped the Network develop its plans and assign its priorities for the upcoming years. Also, GreeneHealth sent out surveys to businesses, each town government supervisor, county officials, and health care providers.

Greene County Health Status
Greene County has a population of about 48,800 according to the 2003 estimated census, and approximately 7,000 part-time recreational residents and vacationers.

The population distribution in terms of age and income is similar to other Upstate counties although our population is slightly older with 16% aged 65 or older compared to 13% Upstate. About 12% of the total population lives below the poverty level, which is close to Upstate averages.
