Greene Walks
The Healthy Weight Initiative is pleased to report that GreeneWalks, our community walking program, was a huge success!  A total of 250 residents participated in this free 8-week program, which ran from the end of August through the beginning of November. Pedometers and walking logs were distributed to participants to help track their steps
and daily accomplishments.

Apart from the grand prize of better health, six participants in the GreeneWalks program earned prizes just for walking and returning their walking log. Four participants received a $50 cash prize.  In addition, one participant received a gift certificate from Red's Restaurant and one received a two-month membership to Summit Hill Health & Fitness club.

We plan to run the GreeneWalks program again in the Spring of 2010, so continue to check our website for information. In the meantime, we have posted walking signs in Athens, Catskill, Coxsackie, and Windham...so keep walking!
